Ian Harris, MD
Dr. Ian Harris is director of the adult congenital cardiology program at UC San Francisco, where he is Associate Professor of Medicine. His clinical expertise is in the care of adults with congenital heart disease, cardiovascular genetic conditions, and women with cardiovascular disease during pregnancy. In addition, he has a research background in developmental biology and in cell signaling.
Dr. Harris will provide a brief review of the demographics of congenital heart disease, a review of the normal cardiovascular physiologic changes of pregnancy, and case-based discussion of specific congenital cardiac lesions during pregnancy.
Desired Outcomes:
- Recognition of potential risks to maternal and fetal health in pregnant women with congenital heart disease.
- Reduction in preventable maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality
