Physician, author, and veganism advocate
Up to 2/3 of chronic degenerative disease is caused by diet and lifestyle. Many (or most) of these diseases can be improved or reversed through healthier food choices. Mechanisms for disease amelioration in hypertension, atherosclerosis, Type 2 diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, and asthma are explored.
Desired Outcomes:
- To understand the role of food (especially the fast-food-based, “Standard
American Diet”) in causation of common degenerative disease.
- Review the mechanisms by which healthier food choices can ameliorate
diabetes, atherosclerosis, and inflammatory bowel disease.
- Employ strategies to incorporate effective nutritional counseling into your
clinical practice.
