Internal Vacancies at Natividad
On Monday each week, the Internal Vacancy posting will be emailed out to all staff identifying all available positions open at Natividad. This list is also posted in the bulletin boards by the cafeteria and outside the SEA conference room. A copy of the live internal vacancy posting can be viewed here. If you are interested in any of the positions listed, you may be eligible to transfer from your current position to the new posted position. Please see below for some common ways to determine eligibility. If you have any questions we encourage you to visit the HR recruitment team to discuss further.

Temporary to Permanent Status Changes at Natividad
Under County of Monterey Guidelines, employees that are hired into temporary positions have a year from their hire date to be selected for a permanent position without having to go through a new competitive recruitment process for the job classification they were hired into.
In the event that a temporary employee does not transfer into a permanent position within a year from their hire date, they will be required to go through a competitive recruitment process all over again in order to be eligible to compete for permanent positions.
For all temporary employees that are interested in transferring to a permanent position, it is imperative that you do the following:
- Know your hire date – if you miss the year mark, even by a day, you have to go through the entire recruitment process again.
- Watch the vacancy posting that is updated every Monday – This is posted in the bulletin boards by the Cafeteria & the SEA conference room and is emailed to all Natividad employees by the Human Resources department. To express interest in the permanent vacancies, a transfer request needs to be submitted within 5 days of the posting for guaranteed consideration. Transfer requests received after 5 days will be considered on an as-needed basis. A transfer request form must be submitted for each position in which an employee is interested, and must list the job classification, department and FTE being requested. Incomplete transfer request forms will not be accepted.
- Stay Eligible to Refer – if you are already past a year from your hire date, keep your application active and if necessary, reapply each time a recruitment opens up until you accept a permanent position.
Career Ladder
You can find a list of some of the career ladders that have been identified at Natividad. If you find your current classification in the list, you can see if there are other job classifications that you can “flex” (promote) into without going through the competitive process (application process as you did when you were first brought on board).
Steps to take if you are Interested in “Flexing”
- Step 1 Know what job classifications you can “flex” into – Review the list and identify what positions you can promote into.
- Step 2 Check the vacancy posting weekly – Vacancy posting is updated every Monday. This list is posted in the bulletin boards by the Cafeteria & the SEA conference room and is emailed to all Natividad employees by the Human Resources Department.
- Step 3 Submit internal transfer forms – When positions do post that you are interested in, get an internal transfer form (on the intranet “Human Resources Career Opportunities”) or come by the HR Office. Transfer request forms must be complete and submitted within 5 days of posting for guaranteed consideration.
